Editorial Reviews
From the Back Cover
This is the first audiobook the blogging duo has recorded. In addition to the knitting stories from their book, Ann and Kay chose blog entries to read for this audiobook. They begin in 2003 with Kay's tribute to Gee's Bend quilter Loretta Pettway, include Ann's famous entry describing their first meeting face to face, and end in 2005 with Kay's paean to indigo-dyed denim yarn. Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines was Amazon.com' s #1 new knitting book of 2006, and has received rave reviews. Parade Magazine said, Imagine the stories and good company of the best knitting circle. Now these great stories are on audio, read by Ann and Kay themselves.
About the Author
KAY GARDINER and ANN SHAYNE met on an online knitting message board five years ago. Their correspondence has grown into a community of more than 150,000 knitters who regularly log on to masondixonknitting.com.
Gardiner and Shayne follow up their first successful book of blogs, anecdotes, and knitting patterns with one similar in format--from which this audio is abridged. Obviously, the patterns are missing, but the folksy feel-good tone is delivered in country accents and accompanied by country music. The authors take turns reading with enthusiasm and humor, sharing stories of a trip to the county fair, family vacations, filming Target's new yarn display, and meeting a fellow blogger in New York City, among others. They assume they're talking to a group of similarly obsessed knitters who are conversant with the lingo of the craft. So, non-knitters, beware. J.B.G. © AudioFile 2010, Portland, Maine
